10 Ways to “Untie” a Rope

  1. Use a pin or other small pointy object to pry the knot apart
  2. Soak the rope in water for 20 min then try to untie it normally after it dries
  3. Heat it then cool it
  4. Put it on a hard surface and try hitting gently with a hammer or a flat rock
  5. Look at where the rope is connected to an object and work on that
  6. Apply something to lubricate the rope where the knot is tied
  7. Try pushing the rope into the knot to cause it to open up
  8. Cut the rope with scissors or a knife
  9. Tear it over a rough tree branch or a rock
  10. Use your teeth to try and loosen it
